Next week during the Milan Design Week Henzel Studio will preview an edited display of Henzel Studio Collaborations Volume #1, an exclusive collection of art rugs realized in close collaboration with twelve artists, including some of the most prominent and influential names in the contemporary art world.

For fifteen years, Henzel Studio has created luxury handmade rugs that transcend the boundaries between art and interior design.

To expand on this practice, Henzel Studio Collaborations was formed as a continuous initiative inviting contemporary artists across disciplines and genres to freely and seamlessly translate their work through an alternate media and the extraordinary artisan practices that are involved in the making of Henzel’s rugs.

Each artist was invited and selected to synergize with the next, gravitating toward artists that have each established their own rules in the art world, either by practice or by status.

The featured artists includes Scott Campbell, Helmut Lang, Marilyn Minter, Juergen Teller and Mickalene Thomas among others.

An edited display of Henzel Studio Collaborations will be on view at Selected Objects at Temporary Museum for New Design in Milan during the Salone Internationale del Mobile, April 8-13, 2014.

The project is curated by Joakim Andreasson.
