We just got the sad news that Bill Moggridge, director of Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum died yesterday. Bill has for many years been one of the figureheads of the design world; he designed the first laptop computer, he founded IDEO, he wrote great books (Designing Media one of them), and as mentioned, he was the director of Cooper Hewitt. It’s very difficult to believe. We had lunch this summer in New York and Bill was as bright, funny and friendly as always. But the cancer that finally took his life hit him very hard. The memory of Bill will stay in our hearts, and we will definitely think of him later this month when Designboost will conduct the Design intelligence; FASHION event at Parsons the New School for Design, where Bill and his team at Cooper Hewitt have been involved from the very start.
Rest in peace Bill!
