A corner of Geist restaurant with chairs and tables

Copenhagen based multidisciplinary design studio SPACE has just finished their restaurant project Geist, which is the brain-child of Michelin starred chef Bo Bech. SPACE worked closely with the chef to make sure that the interior design of the restaurant reflected the relaxed nature of the cuisine, whilst capturing the wild and flamboyant universe of Bo Bech.

A typical part of the restaurant interior is the relaxed bar area where guests can enjoy an intimate supper. SPACE also created the Spine high chair especially for Geist.

We work very closely with every chef on our projects, and the interiors of Geist are wild and flamboyant. The design concept was all about contrasts. We wanted the restaurant to be dynamic & calm in both space , texture, color and materials. It is a modern design that has a nostalgic tone. It is an artistic space that retains its playfulness and is simultaneously rough and yet refined, says Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou of SPACE.

Geist is a wonderful example of SPACE’S intrinsic ability to combine traditional Danish design values into a modern arena.
