Music has always played an important part of the runway shows. This year was not any exception. Here is a short conclusion of the songs and artists that played a role at the runway shows in Paris, London, New York and Milan for spring/summer 2007.
It is interesting to see that the models this year were walking to the beat of quite a lot of the rock’n’roll stars from the 70s and the 80s. Gucci played Roxy Music (all time favourites), Alexander McQueen used Paint it black by Rolling Stones, Betsey Johnson Candy with Bow Wow Wow (who will forget them…), Betty Jackson played some Marc Bolan and Plastic Bertrand (he’s great!) and Burberry used Boomtown Rats, Joy Division and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the dark (the latter are really 80s…). At Costello Tagliapietra you could listen to Train in Vain by the Clash and at Versace they played Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground (Shiny Shiny Shiny Boots Of Leather). Lanvin used Siouxsie and the Banshees, Form played some good old Led Zeppelin and David Bowie (could you imagine that Ziggy has turned 60…), Jim Morrison and the Doors where sounding at Matthew Williamson and finally at Sabyasachi, Echo and the Bunnymen where in the speakers (I actually played guitar with a band in the same TV-program as they did in the mid 80s!).
