Responsible design from Mater
Mater is a completely new design brand from Denmark that are launching their first collection at the Maison et Objet fair in Paris this week. On top of their great products Mater acts with social responsibility deep in its genes from the start. They have started a foundation that funds social and environmental initiatives conducted in collaboration with audited manufacturers and workshops. Here are some words about Mater from American design Todd Bracher:
“working with mater is a chance for a designer to connect with local artisans to exchange ideas. with globalization the world is losing indigenous crafts, which is why an awareness of preserving such crafts is increasingly important. they’re not only expressions of our cultural diversity; they also represent a wealth of experiences and know-how that are essential resources in developing novel concepts and designs”.
I believe very much in combing innovative design with sustainability and responsibility. Soon you will not be able to do it in another way. Through our family lifestyle company Carlson Ahnell we will act as agents for Mater on the Swedish market. Mater matters!
