Laurence Brabant poetic glassware
Laurence Brabant is an interesting French designer and producer of glassware. Like an illusionist she designs poetic products that in a clever way are inspired by translucency and the difference between visible and invisible. You can see some of the designs of Laurence Brabant below:
Verre Rouge is a revisited wine glass with hollow stem to show variation of wine colours.
The collection “Petites leçons de choses” is inspired by the marvellous of the childhood. Small objects are drawn with the particular attention of a child discovering the world, like peaceful evidences. Glass blows both lure, reveal and then guide liquids to illusory pieces enable to set some precious instants or poetical drifts. Glass is used to deliver a colourful experience for the material becomes invisible contrary to its content which appears in an unusual way.
The Hot Cut series which is new for 2007 are made from glass bubbles cut in two or four parts when the glass is in fusion. Irregular edges evocate fragility in this strong glass: borosilicate glass (such as the famous Pyrex label).

Laurence Brabant successfully completed the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Dupérré in Paris, in 1997. She worked with several design studios and trends consulting agencies, and took part in many important exhibitions such as Pitti Immagine Casa in Florence, Maison & Objet in Paris, French Designer’s Days in London. Her first collection of glass tableware objects, Petites leçons de choses, was a great success in France and abroad and, in 2001, the FNAC (Fond National d’Art Contemporain) bought the complete range of products.
She is presently co-operating with important companies such as the Venetian glass manufacturer, Salviati, the fashion designer Martin Margiela in Paris, and the most glamorous Paris florist, Christian Tortu. Laurence’s skills and creativity allowed her to work with Jean-Paul Gaultier and Philippe Starck, to design custom made lamps for a show room in Taipei.
