The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York presents the exhibition Stephen Burks: Man Made, March 31st – July 26th, 2011. Stephen Burks: Man Made is the first exhibition of industrial design ever held at the museum in Harlem. At the exhibition the visitors will be able to look into Stephen Burks’s ongoing exploration of the global economy of artisanal craft. Inspired by Burks’s collaboration with Senegalese basket weavers based in New York and Dakar, as well as projects with artisans in South Africa, Peru and India.

The exhibition will also include photographic and video documentation of Stephen Burks’s travels, as well as his own drawings and prototypes, so that audiences can experience the entire design process from inspiration to completion.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an 80 pages catalogue designed by Studio Lin in collaboration with Readymade Projects.
