Gary Hustwit, the director of indie smash hit documentary Helvetica, just released the trailer for his new movie, Objectified. It’s something as unusual as a documentary about our favourite thing: industrial design. It claims to have a critical view on the process, on designers, our relationships with the designers through the design and consumerism. Just how in-depth the interviews with designers such as Jonathan Ive, Hella Jongerius and Dieter Rahms go is hard to tell from the trailer. Hustwit writes on his blog that it will represent a dinner conversation between designers. Hopefully it will go further and not just discuss the phenomenon that is design, but the problems it’s facing, what problems design itself can solve but also some great insights in these great people’s processes.
