ABSOLUT glassware by Konstantin Grcic

Konstantin Grcic has designed a new series glassware for Swedish liquor brand Absolut. Together with my friend Mårten Knutsson from Family Business I got an assignment from Absolut a year ago to supervise the development of new glassware for restaurants and bars around the world. After some initial research we found that Konstantin Grcic would be the perfect designer for the project. His design identity goes well hand in hand with the core values of Absolut; clarity, simplicity and perfection. Konstantin Grcic is a perfectionist, and a pragmatic. He lets essential human needs play the main role when designing, thus making unpretentious products. On top of this Konstantin Grcic is undoubtedly one of the most interesting industrial designers of today.

One of the biggest challenges was to create a discrete branding on the glasses. The solution is a lifted bottom, giving the glass a hovering impression. The glasses are really subtle and should work in a lot of different restaurant and bar environments. The series consists of a shot glass in two sizes, a rocks glass in two sizes, a cocktail glass and finally a long drink glass also in two sizes. Now I’m just looking forward to be served a nice drink or cocktail in the glasses in a bar soon…
